
In Shiva Purana there is proclaim of trio- Bhakti (devotion), Jnana (wisdom) and Vairgya (non-attachment) and the objects which are knowable through the Vedanta. Manasputra means who are born out of mind. Sanat Kumar was one of the four manasputra of Lord Brahma.

Later on Sanat Kumar permitted sage Vyasa to compose the entire Shiva Purana for benefit of those who are seeking liberation and salvation. According to Puranic tradition, at the time of first creation it consisted of thousand million verses.

It was comprised in twelve books or sections and it has one lakh verses. Shiv Puran is one of the eighteen Mahapurana.
